Thank you for the video. I thought assessing risk is part of the answer. At times, distinguishing between right and wrong in these NCARB questions can be challenging. I wish you could play a part in the approval or disapproval of NCARB questions like this. As you mentioned, it's not a best way to evaluate knowledge.

Architects don’t think sound travels in straight lines do they? Get a rubber or low sound reflective tube and make a sound on one end and look it then stick it in your ear. You’ll hear the sound just fine because sound is nothing really it’s the medium being compressed into waves. So Ray tracing isn’t the end all as it doesn’t address sound curving. Sound moves more like water. It’ll create waves when it hits a surface but also it’ll trickle through holes and sons corners as well.

Galling from what I've understood it to be, is specifically something that happens when threading metals together. It is what causes threads of a bolt to seize in the threads of a threaded hole or into a nut. When I was working for a fabrication company we would use anti-seize lubricant on all stainless steel connections to prevent galling and seizing. Can anyone expand on this from 2:33, maybe I'm misunderstanding the terminology. I wouldn't think that galling has anything to do with the necessity of a washer, even though the concerns requiring the washer are completely valid, is there another piece of terminology missing?

Adding to the floor plane conversation. Yes you can build in it (as discussed), but your options are either: 1. Build it fully flood proof (expensive) 2. Build it to flood, and waterproof only the electrical rooms or equipment rooms you don't want to replace every 10-100 years We designed a hospitality campus 10-20' below the floor plane. But when designing with solution #1, it was so expensive that we had to redesign to solution #2. Even then, we encountered many permitting and design barriers. For example, water venting requirements contradicting fire proofing requirements. We had to apply for multiple alternatives requests and worked closely with the structural team to check for rot-resistant structural materials. We even used Bernoulli's principle in our alternatives requests. So, not easy!

You mentioned that the profit and loss statement is by the Mattox method. In that case, for getting the percentages for any of the direct expense line item why are you dividing them by the total expense ? In the P-L statement in AHPP they divide it by the NOR to get the percent. Just wanted to know what the correct method is.

To the question concerning the Bid Project with an Add Alternate using public money, the answer is not as straight forward as you would think. The correct answer is dependent on the CLIENT (End User) and what they select. If they decide to only do the Base Bid, then contractor “A” is the legal low bidder. If they decide to do the Alternate, then Contractor “B” is the legal low bidder. This has occurred on numerous projects that we have Bid over the years.

It's quite interesting that in Europe calculation of building acoustics uses a different method which is arguably more accurate and uses 1/3 octave bands across the full acoustic spectrum then weighting those values depending on psychoacoustic factors (dbA weighting) then the analysis of materials can take into account the resonance of specific materials and cavities.

The ads are infuriating. They completely interrupt one's train of thought and ability to follow the explanation. I am barely 10 minutes into the video and have had at least 3 ads already. Perhaps you should consider adding ad-free versions of these videos to the Amberbook resources for those us who are paying for the program. In any case, even if these are free for anybody, there should really be a lot less ads.
